Patio season is finally upon us and I’m excited to spend weekend afternoons in the warm sun with a cocktail in hand and good eats! Decorating a patio should be an extension of the decor from your home. Lounge furniture has replaced the usual dining table and chairs as the go to for patio furniture. It comes in a variety of shapes and sizes from fantastic retailers like Restoration Hardware, West Elm and Serena & Lily. I love using fun, bold pillows outdoors to add some colour. The patio is a great place to experiment with colour and pattern because the outdoors are meant to be bright and cheery right? I’m loving the Monaco collection from Serena & Lily!

Spring Trends 2013

Hello! There’s been a bit of radio silence on the blog. Unfortunately this happens when work gets extra cray and things are busy. So far April is kicking my ass. I’ve been working hard on business development, projects, clients and my endless to-do list never seems to dwindle. But all that being said, I’m looking forward to warmer weather, fun projects and a trip to Vegas with my family in May to top it off. I also have a HUGE project/collaboration coming up that I CAN’T WAIT to tell you all about! I’ve been working on this on and off since October and will be able to share the final design in June, but the details will be on the blog shortly!

Above is an article I wrote for Home Decor & Renovations magazine on spring trends. Check it out on page 38 for the full view!

Weekend Outlook

Camille Styles Easter Egg

Happy long weekend! I’m so looking forward to this extra day off. My to do list is a mile long (as it always is) so it’ll be nice to have an extra day to tackle it.

I plan on:

  • Enjoying the Vancouver sunshine!
  • Working on some website stuff, a makeover is in the works :)
  • Getting my butt kicked by Jillian Michaels- just downloaded 30 Day Shred. Um wow!
  • Having a family dinner this Saturday to look at our wedding pics! I’ll post a few next week.
  • Spring cleaning my closet- packing away the warm winter coats and bringing out the lightweight blazers.
  • Prepping for my first trade show that is taking place April 13th in the Olympic Village in Vancouver. It’s called the Fresh Look Vancouver, check out their Facebook page for more information!

Hope you have a great long weekend! Happy Easter!

Lately, I’ve found myself pinning lots of spaces in neutral colour schemes, bright, airy rooms and anything summer related. Here’s a few things I’ve pinned lately….. Happy Monday!

Lusting After: The White Tuxedo Jacket

White Tuxedo Jackets

On the wishlist for this spring: the white tuxedo jacket with a black lapel. I love the high contrast look and it can totally go from day to night. J. Crew mixes it with denim and a chambray shirt and fashion icon Olivia Palermo dresses it up with shorts and Manolo Blahniks.

Check out these options:

  1. Forever 21, $39.80
  2. Elizabeth & James, $615
  3. Stella McCartney, $1575

Bedding, Bedding, Bedding!

Dwell Studio bedding

John Robshaw Bedding

Serena & Lily Bedding

I’m in the market for new bedding….I’m textile obsessed so naturally I’m always on the hunt for new pillows, fabrics and bedding. I find it difficult at times to find good quality, stylish bedding that isn’t going to break the bank. But my top three favourites would be Dwell Studio, John Robshaw and Serena & Lily. I love mixing their different patterns and coming up with a totally custom look. Above are my top picks from each company. I’m really loving the hints of indigo blues and tans from Serena & Lily. Maybe it’s a winner?!

San Fran Victorian

Sometimes there will be an image on Pinterest that takes my breath away and I will have to know everything about it. Exhibit A: This San Francisco Victorian designed by Ken Fulk. I saw the living room and fell in love with the black crocodile wallpaper on the fireplace, that gorgeous pendant, the sofa, the styling and the hide rug!

I love everything about this home and what Ken did. It has a nice mix of masculine & feminine touches, a lot of natural textures and I adore the livability of it all. It’s a gem!

High Impact Stripes

Striped TileB&W striped tileTobi FairleySarah RichardsonPaul Davis

I have become obsessed with stripes. A little too obsessed. Hence the black and white table runners at my wedding. Hell I’m even in stripes right now as I type. They’ve been around forever, but lately I feel like they’re popping up everywhere- clothing, accent walls and in the bathroom. I love the high impact effect you get by mixing two different tiles in a horizontal stripe in the shower. Or the floor, like how Sarah Richardson did above. This is a great way to get a stylish look in the bathroom without breaking the bank. I would love to see a larger format tile mixed with a thinner tile stripe to break it up. Almost like the look that Nam Dang Mitchell achieved with paint in my previous post. Again, high impact, small budget. Makes me want to paint stripes in our living room…….hmmm weekend project perhaps?

Designer Inspiration

24-02-2013 12-01-22 PM 24-02-2013 12-01-43 PM 24-02-2013 12-02-15 PM House and Home Magazine, Nam Dang Mitchell, Interior Design

I have a few favourite Canadian interior designers that really stand out- Sarah Richardson (obvi), Candice Olson, Tommy Smythe, and Kelly Deck. Each month you are guaranteed to see any one of them featured in the top design magazines. But a new favourite of mine is Nam Dang Mitchell of Calgary, Alberta. The spaces she designs are exactly what I would describe as perfect rooms. They’re luxurious, but livable, well thought out, layered, sophisticated, tailored with so much attention to detail. I Instagrammed a photo the other day from the recent issue of House & Home magazine featuring her newest project. It is perfection. I would DIE for that media room, master ensuite and guest bedroom. I love the gallery wall, the Mongolian pouf and the painted stripes on the wall. Take a peak at the newest issue of H&H, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
